Lynn Lerew
1975-Present
Lynn Lerew joined the Hagerstown
Municipal Band in the summer of 1963 and performed as a member and
Euphonium Soloist until 1974. He became Director in 1975.
A native of Bendersville, PA and a graduate of Biglerville High School,
Lerew holds a B.S. degree in Music Education from Susquehanna University
and a Master of Music in Education from West Chester University. He also
has done advanced study in Educational Administration and holds
certification from Shippensburg University.
From 1963 through 1989, Lynn served as Director of Bands at Chambersburg
Area Senior High School. During that time the Band was quite prominent with
appearances throughout the United States at the Sugar Bowl, Orange Bowl,
Cotton Bowl, Rose Bowl, Indy "500" and Macy's Parades. He was
quite active as an adjudicator for marching and stage bands in the
Mid-Atlantic region and still serves as a consultant to several band
festivals. He is active as a trombonist with his own Dixieland Band and
Trombone Quartet, and plays euphonium with the Virginia Grand Military Band
in suburban Washington, DC.
